Have you ever wanted to sponsor a production but felt that the cost of sponsorship was out of your budget? We get it… we’ve been there.
The reality is producing theatre often comes with a hefty price tag. Materials for constructing the set, sourcing the props and costumes, securing the licensing rights, equipment rentals, and many more play a major factor in what drives the cost of a production. Therefore, sponsorship offsets these costs and allows theatres to produce their work efficiently and effectively.
With that in mind, we wanted to make sponsorship more accessible to our community. This drive ignited the Spotlight Sponsorship program. The idea is quite simple: instead of sponsoring the entirety of a production, people can sponsor individual performances in a production’s run for $125 or $250.
“We piloted the Spotlight Sponsorship program when we were preparing for August Wilson’s How I Learned What I Learned, our return to producing live theatre in 2021,” says Bradley Akers, Managing Artistic Director of The 5 & Dime. “I was so grateful by the excitement and energy of our Board of Directors to put this program into place. But, I couldn’t have dreamt of the response that we received from the community when we launched it.”
That first production received 19 Spotlight Sponsorships. Since then, more than 50 individuals and businesses have become Spotlight Sponsors for our programming—every production since our return has benefitted from the contributions of individuals in this community.
What do Spotlight Sponsorships contribute to?
